This Saturday August 13 we will be meeting at the offices for a teaching on the second half of Col. 1.

Meeting will start promptly at 6:30 pm. We will have a sign up sheet at the meeting for "fellowship" nights over the next couple of months so look at your calendars in advance to see what day you can host the meeting. Keep in mind that fellowship nights are every alternate week with the teaching weeks.

Ever wake up with a scripture "out of nowhere" floating through your mind?

This is the one that was there for me this morning. I knew what to do--well eventually I did. After thinking about the weekend, posting a note on FB (proof positive I need to fast from FB) I heard the words again. Then, I remembered again what to do. Bless God for his mercy and patience.

I searched for the scripture reference. What was God saying to me again? I wanted to believe that today would bring blessed good news and that's why the words repeating through my mind. But then.....what if.....could it be..... that God would use me to bring good news today? What if He would use me to bring The Good News to someone else today? What if He is saying that He is calling me to bring the Good News every day????????

Glory, Hallelujah! It made my heart sing to think about God using me in an extraordinary, extravagant conversation today!

So I must prepare, search the Word to see what it means about beautiful feet and bringing good news that "Your God reigns"!

Note, When bad news is abroad this is good news, and when good news is abroad this is the best news, that Zion's God reigns, that God is Zion's God, in covenant with her, and as such he reigns
All events have their rise in the disposals of the kingdom of his providence and their tendency to the advancement of the kingdom of his grace. This must be applied to the preaching of the gospel, which is a proclamation of peace and salvation; it is gospel indeed, good news, glad tidings, tidings of victory over our spiritual enemies and liberty from our spiritual bondage. The good news is that the Lord Jesus reigns and all power is given to him.

Whether you need to be reminded of the Good News or you need the Good News or you are called to bring Good News, be encouraged!

Our God Reigns and is there every step those beautiful feet of yours takes you! So get up outta your chair get those beautiful feet moving to follow our amazing Lord wherever and to whom ever He takes you.

40 Days for Life is underway!!!!

40 days for life began Sept. 22 and will continue for well-- 40 days. Regularly individuals from the east valley will stand on the sidewalk near the Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic at Alma School and Galveston in Mesa to pray for the mothers and and their lost babies.

Join us whenever you have a few minutes to pray that God will over turn this heinous taking of lives and the horrible impact it has on the mothers and families.

We cannot forget the 4000 babies being killed DAILY in this country.

The Church that Jesus died for, the local Body of Christ has taken a lot of hits in the last few years. In light of that and lest we forget that Paul taught often (Check out Ephesians chapters 1-3) that God's fulfillment for His purposes for His individual children, His glory and His revelation come to us as we are in fellowship in "The Church" and in response to this shunning of church by well meaning men such as Wayne Jacobsen, Jim Palmer, Darin Hufford, Frank Viola, George Barna etc., I contemplated what scripturally a church should look like. Here's what I came up with.

The church I foresee is...

A church that evolves from generation to generation

A church that starts a revolution adaptable to the coming age.

A church full of true worshipers who understand, "in spirit and in truth!"

A church that will introduce a Kingdom form of worship that will rock the heavens and the earth;
that will influence many because of its new pattern of worship.

A church of that is unshakable because its foundation is the Rock, the life of Jesus Christ.

A church that will reclaim the culture of Kingdom of Heaven through it's ambassadors on earth.

A church that remains loyal to its roots.

A church of multiplication whose numbers increase its influence that cannot be ignored.

A church so attractive, "making disciples as they go" it is both organic and infectious.

A church of hospitality

A church that will teach the true meaning of REPENTANCE and living within it daily

A church dependent on the Holy Spirit; His calling and leading

A church unified under One Rule, One Authority, One Culture, One Nation, One Citizenship on earth as it is in heaven.

A church that will speak God's messages with love, consideration, confidence and understanding.

A church committed to raising, training and empowering leaders from the generations that follow

I see a Church whose overseer is Jesus, governed by the Holy Spirit that will focus on the Great Commission!

The preschool rooms are used by the student's children who live with their mothers at HH. James 1:19 in action

How often do we hear of a perfect example of a scripture that you studied just that week?

James 1:19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

This week we heard of a wonderful example of a brother who did indeed follow this scripture and experienced a righteous moment.

I'll try to give you just a taste of what happened. My suggestion is that you ask the individual himself to re-enact the story. As a story it has it all--jealousy, danger, humor, amazement and a sweet ending.

As you all know David M. is an avid photographer. He and his lovely wife Gail were taking a break at the Pine family cabin this past week. In an act of supreme sacrifice Gail stopped the car at the Verde River area to give David a chance to get some shots of the pretty river area. (I say a sacrifice because typically David is not the speediest photographer and it was a warm day).

As David stood taking some shots of the river, a burly sort of guy walks up to David, gets directly in his face, and asks a surprising question "Why are you taking pictures of my wife?". Now I can't think of another man who would have kept his cool so well as David did who slowly and quietly replied "I'm not taking pictures of your wife. I didn't even see your wife." The man stayed right in his face and insisted that David had been taking pictures of his wife. David stayed ever so calm, quietly explaining that he hadn't even been aware that this man's wife was in the river. Eventually the man backs away and continues to rant about how his wife was always being unfaithful--using expletives to punctuate his angst.

Some pretty weird and interesting conversation takes place at this point but I'll let David, an expert story teller, fill you in when you see him Sunday.

But I can't resist finishing the story. Here's where we see the righteous result of a slow to speak answer. David says to the man in response to his despairing comments "would you like me to pray with you? and then "Do you know Jesus as your Savior?".

That deserves a big WOW and a hearty Amen! Way to go David! The man says yes and yes and David prays with him and offers counsel on the situation.

Sorry to give away the punchline, but you'll still enjoy David's recounting of this God ordained encounter.

Fruit of the Spirit

I love it when the Holy Spirit puts 2 and 2 together.

Sunday's scripture was in Galatians about the Fruit of the Spirit. We discussed how the fruit of the Spirit is the result of walking in the Spirit. We found that there is indeed purpose to the order in which the fruit of the Spirit is listed. love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. They seem to build on each other starting with love and down the list. If at some point you are struggling with one of the list, perhaps you need to go back and check the list to see if the other fruit are being exemplified in your life.

^{Galatians 5: 22}But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. ²⁴And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.²⁵If we live by the Spirit,let us also walk by the Spirit.

And then yesterday someone said something to the effect that God was working on patience in his life (don't we always tell each other not to pray for patience?). Something began niggling at the back of my mind or rather the Holy Spirit was poking me with His elbow.

So, early this morning both of these things came together as God woke me this morning:

If the fruit of the spirit are exactly that--the result of walking in the Spirit everyday--then isn't what we need to do is to focus on our relationship with God? The word surrender comes to mind (seems to be my "word of the year"). Instead of trying to be loving, trying to be joyful, trying to be at peace, trying to have patience, trying to be kind, trying to be good, trying to be faithful, trying to have self-control, perhaps the key is simply surrendering to God on a moment by moment basis. Loving God with all our heart so that surrender is not a chore. In fact surrendering becomes a delight when we give something to someone we dearly love.

I truly believe that God isn't really trying to teach us patience or that we are even supposed to pray for patience. I believe that God's greatest desire is for us to be able to love Him with every inch of our heart, with all our actions and with every word that comes out of our mouths. He tells us that if we do surrender ourselves to Him that all those "fruit" will flow out of us, that nothing will stand between us and His love for us.

The first fruit is love, therefore, we must surrender to God, to seek His heart, a heart that loves unconditionally and completely. When we do that we experience His joy, then His peace, then patience comes easily, kindness will flow out of us, we'll automatically "be good", faithfulness will be rich in our lives, and self-control--well it becomes a moot issue.

So, let us surrender to God so we can walk in the Spirit and have a veritable "fruit salad" exploding out of us today.

When 8 Rowdy's Get Together

...you have our Great God, His love and His presence being amplified and encouraged and spoken with deep personal meaning and conviction!

That is what church was for me on Sunday. Our group got together read through Galatians with power, affirmation and a sense of it personally touching us deeply.

I thank my brother Craig Hayes for starting us out right...this section of scripture was all about Paul encouraging the Galatians and a couple of thousand years later you and I to be sensitive and heart the Holy Spirit.

We discovered the Bible is a tool to do that. We discovered prayer and corporate intercession (all of us together!) is a tool. We learned that in fellowship AND eating together we fulfill and articulate just how it is God wishes us to hear from Him personally...

You guys are joy and life to me.

Where did our righteous indignation go?

Has your heart been broken this week? Have you fallen on your face before God pleading for forgiveness of our country? Do you remind yourself that there are things that our government condones and God abhors?

How easily we shrug and say "I can't believe how many babies have been murdered in this country!" and then go on to our normal lives without falling on our knees in grief. So soon we forget. So soon.

Well, that's where I've been--forgetting, or ignoring, or too preoccupied with my own concerns to look and really see what is happening. Too self-absorbed to grieve for the lost little ones--all created by God and yet snatched out of His hands before they could even see the sunlight on their perfectly formed faces.

How thankful I am that I went to a Pro-Life Teen seminar this past week. My eyes were opened again--my heart broken again. I wanted to squeeze my eyes shut when the pictures of torn babies were shown on the screen--to try to block out the unimaginable cruelty of how they were ripped out of their mothers bodies. I didn't want to see it--Oh God! how I don't want to know that anyone purposefully, out of ignorance or denial could allow this to happen. Oh God! forgive them--so many don't understand what they are doing. Evil, evil ememy of our souls who deludes, persuades and closes the eyes to this heinous act.

Why are more people not outraged? Why wasn't I? Lord forgive me. Remind me oh God to look and see, to allow my heart to be broken. Remind me God and break my heart that I will stand up in righteous indignation to protect those you love.

Crazy Love--Lord teach me to love you so much that others will see you in me and think "she is crazy in love with Jesus."

I knew when we picked up Francis Chan's book "Crazy Love" that it would bring conviction and confirmation to my spirit. For some time God has been telling me that I need to fall deeper and deeper in love with Him. I, in fact, know that if I crave God more than anything else in my life He will fill me to overflowing with His love. This overflow is what will give me the heart to love others deeply, to feel their pain, and to be a conduit for the Holy Spirit to comfort and draw others into that same love relationship with God. God who created them to have fellowship with Him.
So that's where the conviction overtook me--Francis doesn't pull any punches in his call to "Christians" to examine their walk with God. He tells us that we're either all in or all out.

Revelation 3:15-17 (ESV)

15"'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot.(A) Would that you were either cold or hot! 16So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. 17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked

Lukewarm? Not me God. Lord, how can that be? My goodness, I assist my husband in pastoring a house church, I minister at the nursing home, I'm part of several ministries to women, I love to do life purpose coaching, I find ways to encourage and teach younger women like Titus 3 says to do, I spend time in prayer and Bible study, I do all I can for my aging parents, I pray for my children and the generations to come. Lukewarm? How can it be that my heart cries out that I miss the mark so often? Why?

Okay, here comes the conviction part:

Deuteronomy 6:5-6
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.

36"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" 37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment

All my heart? Lord, I wish I could say that. Lord, I really want to say it. Lord, forgive me. Forgive my arrogance and pride in those things I "do" for you. Draw me into your lap as a young child Lord so I can hear your heartbeat and my heartbeat can join with yours. Break my heart with those things in the world that break yours that I might feel the desperate needs of others and respond with my whole being--not just the pittance that I offer you. The pittance that is comfortable, that I get satisfaction out of--a mere pittance of what you want from me--to love you with my whole heart, mind, soul and strength.

Remind me of your awesome power, your awesome love--the creator who came down to sacrifice Himself so that I can experience that awesome love and feel the awesome power in me and around me and in the world.

Lord, as I read Francis'chapter "People of the Lukewarm", as I saw the list of what lukewarm people will do or be like, I knew that in too many ways I could be called lukewarm. Am I willing to step beyond my comfort zone and throw caution to the wind? To allow myself to trust you so much that I risk it all. Lord I am willing to strip down my life so that I can more fully give my life to you and to others.

Lord, I want to be able to say that through your grace I want to be able to truly

Love God, Love Others and make disciples as I go
